Here's more ...

DENIA

The lively port of Denia is 15 - 20 minutes drive. Here you'll find a glorious beach fronted by a myriad of restaurants and bars. Visit early evening and walk the promenade where locals display their arts and crafts before dining in the restaurant of your choice. This is an ancient town dominated by its Moorish Castle that towers over the hundreds of narrow streets below. Interesting shops, trendy boutiques, bars and restaurants mix together, encouraging you to spend your money or just stroll around and take in the atmosphere. The area's biggest market is here on Monday mornings and is well worth a visit. If you fancy something more adventurous why not take a boat trip or even the ferry to Ibiza?

ALTEA

Well worth a visit, about 30 minutes drive, Altea has two areas. The seafront where you'll find a pleasant promenade and various restaurants and bars, behind which are some fabulous furniture stores and boutiques, and the Old Town. Head away from the front and upwards to the hilltop church and village square. A laberynth of tiny cobbled streets full of character restaurants, bars and shops. The view from the top is fabulous and its a great place to go in the evening.

TENNIS

There are 2 courts on Monte Pego. In Pego there is a tennis club with clay courts and tuition available. At San Fernando (on the coast) there is an international club that has mix-ins throughout the week (details in the villa) and there is the Javea International Club that meets at La Sella, about 20 minutes away.

GOLF

There are two championship courses within 20 minutes drive. The Club de Golf Oliva Nova ia a par 72, 18 hole course designed by Spanish golfing legend Severiano Ballesteros. It is situated on the coast, about 10 - 15 minutes drive - in fact, with a trained eye you can actually see Villa Miranda from the fairway! Water comes into play on 15 of the 18 holes and the corse is ' a great challenge to all players' according to Seve. Miguel Angel Jimenez currently holds the course record with 63 strokes (9 under par). There is also a 5 hole par 3 course, practice greens and a driving range.

La Sella, set next to the Montgo Nature Park, is currently about 20 minutes drive. However, the soon-to-be completed bypass around Vergel and Ondara will reduce this by about 10 minutes. Here you will also find a 5 star Marriott Hotel. This par 72 18 hole course has some marvellous scenery with lush well maintained fairways and greens laid in the valley. Another famous Spanis golfer, Jose Maria Olazabal, designed 9 of the holes and the course offers an enjoyable days golf for players of all standards.

There are clubhouses and pro shops at both courses. Oliva Nova offers extensive tuition packages for all standards. There is also a golf superstore in Ondara, about 15 minutes away.
